In 1963, this Department was inaugurated as one of the departments of the Central Police College and named as the Department of Corrections. The Department of Crime Prevention was established in 1967. These two departments were integrated into one department, namely the Department of Crime Prevention and Corrections in 1974.
The Graduate School of Police Administration set up the Division of Crime Prevention in 1970 and the Ph.D. Program was added in 1996. In order to complete the educational system of crime prevention and corrections, the Master’s and Ph.D. programs of crime prevention and corrections were separated from the Graduate School of Police Administration and belonged to the Department from 1996. For the past thirty-five years, this Department has been proud to contribute to education of crime prevention and corrections by graduating many distinguished scholars, correctional experts, and police officers.
